Documentation Create joints between solids

Create joints between solids

Use _RCJOINT to extend one set of solids and cut the receiving parts.

Before you start

Use a saved copy of a drawing with touching 3D solids. Work in model space. Confirm the drawing units and the depth you intend to cut.

Run the command

  1. Run _RCJOINT.

    Select the solids to extend.

  2. Select the receiving solids.

These are the parts to cut joints into.

  3. Enter the joint depth.

Use the depth appropriate to the drawing’s units, then confirm.

Joint before and after

Capture the same sample assembly from the same view before and after _RCJOINT. Show the two selected sets and the actual joint depth.

Inspect the resulting geometry, not only the command’s completion.
Check

The intended faces extend and the receiving solids contain the corresponding cuts. Check the depth and clearances in the drawing.

If no joint appears

Check the selected parts are 3D solids and touch where you intend the joint. Read the command-line error. Undo the result if the selection or depth was wrong.
